About Kate

Kate Gude is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and founder of Kate Gude Yoga, based in Los Gatos, California. Her own practice began in 1998 on a family trip to Rajasthan, India, and deepened over the next 25 years — including 14 years studying with Charu Rachlis at Mindful Body and Yoga Tree in San Francisco and practice in Iyengar Yoga with Sabine Kneuler at Yoga Loft. Kate practiced with Rosemary Garrison at International Orange in San Francisco and on retreat at Haramara in Mexico. She has studied with Thomas Fortel in both yoga and pranayama in San Francisco and on retreat at Esalen in Big Sur, California and other Northern California locations.

Since moving to Los Gatos with her family in 2014, Kate has practiced at Breathe Together Yoga and other studios with teachers including Jennifer Prugh, Noell Clark, Giselle Mari, Cindy Walker, Nancy Glover, Paige Stanton, Marcela Christjansen, Erica Valentine and Jenn Thorp. Kate has experienced a diverse assortment of yoga retreats from Esalen to Ladakh, India with Breathe Together Yoga and from Martha’s Vineyard to Tulum, Mexico with yoga instructor MJ Bindu Delekta.

Certified through Breathe’s Joy of Yoga’s 200-hour Foundations & Dynamics Program and currently completing her Breathe’s Joy of Yoga 300-hour training (2026/2027), Kate teaches tapas (seasonal sequence) and vinyasa flow with an emphasis on breath, strength, balance, greater flexibility, and longevity — the qualities she relies on to keep up with her four children, her Pyrenees mix Daisy Dog, and an active lifestyle.

Kate believes yoga is a path back to presence in a world that often feels fast-paced and overwhelming. Through asana and pranayama and mindful adjustment, she helps students move through everyday stress toward greater physical and emotional well-being and connection with themselves and within our Breathe Together community. Whether guiding a first-time student or refining an experienced practitioner’s alignment, her teaching is grounded, attentive, and rooted in genuine care for where each student is on the mat at that moment in time.

Kate is First Aid and CPR Certified by the American Red Cross (current, 2026).

The Guest House by Rumi

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
As an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
